How much lift can stock pushrods take?

I put a ZZ4 cam in a new caprice create engine. I was wondering if the stock pushrods can take that much lift or if I need to upgrade to hardened pushrods? I am running LT4 springs and 1.5 self aligning roller rockers.

usually no mechanical limits as far as strength goes on push rods as long as you stay in "steetable" limits. you might need to increase length as lift increases. usually something in the range of .1 more lift = .1 more push rod, but the only way to know is to use a length checker.

you need harden pushrods if you have push rod guide plates. If you don't have the plates, you don't need hardend pushrods. If you have stock heads with stock springs, your max lift is .480.

As stated above I am running LT4 springs which can handle .525 lift.

Not trying to be and *** or anything, but have you checked the retainer to seal clearance? Just becasue the springs are good to .525" doesn't mean the heads are.

I forgot to mention that I am running corvette / ZZ4 heads so there will be no problem running a ZZ4 cam. I just wonder if the pushrods can take it.

Oh, ok, I thought you were using some stock vortecs or somethings and didn't want you to run into any problems with that...
