Maybe Sparkplugs???
Maybe Sparkplugs???
Well about 2 weeks ago my fule line froze on me, I finaly got it to fire but in doing so i flooded the engine and ruinend the sparkplugs. I got some new plugs thinking that it was going to be a breeze putting them in. As it turned out I was only able to get 4 in, one on each side. Tried to fire it up again it would run for a couple of seconds than die. So I rigged the throttle cable so that it idles higher. Started right up and didn't die. Took it for a drive and then a couple of miles later the rpm's dropped drastically every time go to stop. The only way i could keep it from dying was to step on the brake and give her some gas.
So my question is, could the problem be the other 4 plugs that I didn't change or is it something else? Hope you guys can help me on this.

Gib,
What year/model/fuel system do you have? "Rigging" the throttle cable to hold the throttle open beyond the design limit will confuse the ECM and make the IAC ineffective. You might need to "unrig" the cable to get it to idle correctly. If you got the engine to run for a couple of miles, the plugs may be dirty but should at least be dry. Eventually, you'll have to change them all, but repair the trottle problem first. If relaxing the cable to the normal position doesn't fix the problem, you might need to reinitialize the ECM to let it readjust to the correct throttle position sensor inputs.
