Help Gas All Over Help Asap Please!!!
ok so, got a new fuel pump and put the thing in the tank, becasue old one was not working(duh) so now when i try to start the car it just pukes GAS all over my engine, it leaks where the fuel liine connects to the carb (holley carb) anyhow, its got a new filter, and pump, and I hear it prime but then>>>>> when you try to start the car, it tries to turn over, but never does, it just sits there and cranks all day. but after you take the key out, the POS pump sits there still pumping away, now there is GAS all over the floor, WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP im about to go outside and just beat the living sh*t out of that car..... so once more , it primes, and tries to start, then key is removed, and the pump is still on, CAUSE=UNKNOWN EFFECT= ME VERY VERY PISSED OFF....... WTF is going on,, is it the worng pump, filter on the wrong way?? Fuel return not working??, Carb dead???? engine dead????
(305 v8, holley carb, 700r4 tranny, new fuel filter, and pump, WTF is happening to that stupid $#% @*&% ^@#$$# %@#$% of a car?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HELP ASAP ASAP, if this car does not work by the end of next week, im left without a car, and that simply cant happen,.........ASAP HELP HELP, if you know anything, anything at all, tell me please!!!!!!! if you have, or have had related problems tell me PLEASE>>>>> ASAP.. Did you replace the little o-ring that goes on the fuel line, Also check your wiring to see if there is something keeping power to the pump after it turned off.

no, the pump shuts off by itself after 7- 11 seconds(all after the car has already been turned off) perhaps, if the old fuel pump was going bad or just a crappy pump, the regulator was opened up all the way to let as much fuel get into the carb as possible. so now that the new fuel pump has been put in the tank, it was too much for the diaphram in the regulator to handle>>resulting in the regulator saying "screw you" and just bypassing it altogether.
The car used to be a v6 fuel injected, it is now a 305 w/holley carb. and In-tank fuel pump. so I thought that it might be the relay sticking after the car has been shut off, resulting in the fuel pump staying on for that 7- 11 seconds. so im gonna replace that next

You need to add another regulator, the EFI pump is more than the seat pressure in your Holley can handle.
Regardless of that, if you're leaking at the fitting, then you've crossthreaded it...or the threads/fitting are not compatible.

Mike is all over it. You need a 3-line regulator and need to use the return line to the tank for the excess fuel flow.
The pump will run after cranking until the oil pressure drops to below 4 PSIG (when the auxilliary oil pressure switch opens).

Holly frickin crap. You bought an in tank pump for an MPFI car that now is carbed???
That is your problem. You just need a good electric
in line 12-16 psi fuel pump for a carb car. About $20.
You installed a 140-160 psi fuel injection in tank pump.
It all becomes very clear.

its been said...
but you put in a high pressure fuel injection pump in a carbed car.
you can either put a 3 port regulator that will let the extra fuel go back into the tank..... or swap the pump out for a carbed one.

OK some more info: orig car had V6 with in-tank pump, MFI. It was swapped for a 305 V8, with Holley carb, Edelbrock performer intake. It has a Mallory 4309 fuel pressure reg. All was well for over a year since we've had the car. Recently no start, no fuel coming to carb. Have spark on plug 1. Not hearing pump prime when turn ignition. Fuse OK. Bought new fuel pump, looked like exact replacement, Master E3902. Installed new fuel filter. Now hear pump prime, get lots of gas at carb, spraying all over. Still does not start, flooded. Took apart fuel press reg, diaphram looks OK (not sure what a bad one looks like). Tried adj screw all the way out, all the way in, still too much gas. Mallory spec says output should be 3 to 12 psi. Have ordered press gauge & Mallory diaphram from Summit. Now wondering if return line is blocked or too small; it's 1/4" id. Ideas: 1) run new larger dia return line to tank (wonder about 1/4 dia line up to sending unit being too restrictive even if rest of line is larger). 2) wait for parts from Summit to see if reg is the problem. 3) forget the in-tank pump and get a mech pump (need to run new fuel line to it). Any other suggestions?? Oh, and mace87 is my son...pls excuse teenage attitude & language!

#2, wait till you get the fuel pressure gauge. and see how much pressure is actually getting to the carb. If the pressure is in its normal range (5-6psi) then your problem is where the fuel feed line connects to the carberator.
if pressure is too high, no matter how the fuel pressure regulator is hooked up, the problem is your regulator, or the return line.
