im getting an 85 IROC-Z

hey guys you all should no me as owning the 83 z28 camaro on here that is black with white racing stripes, well ill be selling that car in about 2 weeks and have found my self a nice fixer upper 85 IROC-Z for $1400 the body does not have any rust what so ever but the reason im getting it so cheap is because the interior is in need of help(missing head liner and ripped seats) and the tranny is done in it wich is an outomatic it has a 305 TPI engine in it and has t tops the car has ruffly 93000 miles on it doors are perfect but need new pins and the ground affex are all perfect except for one crack in front right hand side of ground affex. my question is will this car be a night and day difference from my last 83 wich had an all stock suspension i know the iroc-z in 85 had soem improvements so it should be better then my old 83 Z right?
also is this a bad car being its a real iroc-z makes me alot happyer also. oh yeah and the t tops do not leak on this one eather the car realy doesnt have any rust at all.
all it needs is new door pins, tires and rims, tranny, and a head liner, all in all i think its a good deal but what do you guys think the car is black and has been sitting for about 3-4 years un touched but one turn of the key and it fires right up with out a problem . but wont go any ware do to the tranny being blown i think i will put a 5 speed in it instead of another auto thow because i got sick of my automatic in my 83 and if i go with a standered if i blow the clutch out of it its only like 100-150 bucks to replace it .

is there any thing i should no about this car that i should be aware of ?

personally i think the price is a bit steep, i turned one down in ruffly the same condition with a rebuilt tranny with a bad engine for 400 bucks, it needed paint and was missin the head liner the interior was dirty and had a couple dings, it was an 87 with a 9 bolt and 4 wheel discs.. seemed like too much of a hassle as my 89 was in better shape.... get the price down lower, i did my 5 speed swap for about 250 bucks with a new clutch, rebuilt tranny and the nessicary pedals and hydrolics, i got it all pretty cheap though... 5 speed is way more fun, if you do get it i'd say screw the auto and defently go with the 5 speed.. the one i was lookin at was a tpi l98 but it had a rod through the side of it.. consider all the little things before you get into this project.. how old are the suspension components.. since its an 85 it would defently need some struts, stocks probably some swaybar endlinks, various bushings, brakes might need some work, and it may need new tie rod endlinks.. make sure you check that kinda stuff out.. especially for that price, i'd expect all that stuff to be in perfect condition... and keep in mind its a 305.. i'd defently want it dirt cheap for that reason alone.. but if the bodys in really good shape its ur call, everything else can be replaced but good body work and paint is expensive unless your doing it yourself. Figure around 2000 for a good quality paint job etc.. non leaking t-tops is good though, if you do get it slap some sfcs on it right away.. also check the posi unit out and see if it has any life left in it.. that kinda stuff.. check the engine out real well if you plan on using it.. the usual stuff.. pull the pcv check your blow-by.. ya know the usual.. just checked out your sig, looks like you have a lot of new parts into the 83, you could easily swap parts over before selling it if you wanted so keep that in mind as a cost reduction too..

im selling the 83 for the 85 the 83 has alot of hidden crap rong with it wich is the whole reason im selling it on the 83 both doors are rusted, drivers side floor pan is starting to rust, wheel wels are starting to go and the left side strut tower has a hole rusted threw it its a nice looking car but if you look at stuff closely on it it need alot of body work thats the whole reason i am selling it while i still can and prolly getting the 85 becayse the 85 body in near perfect with no rust at all that i have been able to find so far i know i am getting ripped off a bit on the price but i know i wont be able to find one again for a good while an di love these cars so i am going to go for it and rebuild this one i have alwase wanted one i could just start bolting aftermarket stuff to with out first doing all the body work and i think this one is perfect for that.

first thing its getting a 4th gen interior swap, 4 inch cowl induction hood , z28 high rise spoiler , 5 speed tranny swap , new door pins and weather stripping and a little paint prep andit will be ready to be painted. im prolly going to stay with black because i love black on camaro also it getting black outs for the rear its not complete with out black outs

i am going to use the 305 tpi in it untill it ****s the bed and while im driving around with that engine im goign to work on buying a 383 stroker HO crate engine that i have had my eye on in the YEAR ONE catolog

still say you should buy the other car first and swap out all your new or newer parts to it then sell the 83...... save some money in the long run.. might wanna negotiate about the price a little.. if they say no make em wait a little while.. i dont think many people would pay that much for the car unless the bodys perfect with a good paint job...

85 is suppose to be the first year they had the iroc (international race of champions) features, so its a somewhat 'rare' offspring of camaro.
