The only thing I can remember right now is the hydraulic roller setup requires a pushrod that's .100 longer than the flat tappet.

push rod length doesn't matter much for this, but the roller lifters i beleive take a shorter push rod. i'd have to look in a catalog but i'm thinking stock length SBC push rods for a flat cam are 7.8 and stock length for a hydrolic roller are 7.3

I don't know the lifter height offhand... SBC push rods are approx 7.200" for a factory roller and 7.800" for a flat tappet.

http://www.compcams.com/catalog/268.html

SBC and BBC lifters are the same. .842" dia.

I don't have my calipers handy right now (too cold to go out and get them) but I know that Comp has the spec's listed on thier site...I compared diameter and heigth of a set of linkbar rollers I had to thier specs listed.

ok i checked a new set of flat hydrolic lifters i got from lunati, not that lunati makes lifters. without my glasses on ( i'm getting old) it looks like .842 diameter and 1.997 length and the bottom of the push rod cup is .300 below the edge of the lifter and i'd add .050 to the .300 to allow for compression of the plunger. so next chance i get i'll make a set. now if someone can come up with specs for a hydrolic roller because only ones i have are inside of engines.

for any one that digs this up on a search i found a old roller lifter. overall length is 2.6 with the same .3 recess for the push rod.
