??? About Ignition Module

I have an MSD 6AL ignition in my car. Does this take the place of anything that that the module does?
I have been having starting problems ever since I bought the car 5 years ago.
The problem never went away after I put the msd on.
Just wondering if maybe a bad module would cause bad hot starts.
Thanks

Bob

By bad starts I mean it cranks normal just takes quite a bit to fire. The first time it is started is fine but basically anytime during the day after that it is bad.
I had a thread going quite a while back about the starts but I never did get it figured out.
Thanks

The filter has been changed a couple of times in the last few years.
The fuel pressure holds up well even under WOT but it drops off quickly when the engine is shut off. I've had my injectors serviced at Cruzin Performance and he said none were leaking.

maybe a blown headgasket? on msd igitions the big box is the module, check timing very carefully even if it starts ok cold, if the timing is messed up it will start hard hot. i had that problem on my car too. timing and computers are a touchy thing, unplug the brown computer lead before you check the timing also. It could be the starter is getting weak(trust me). if the problem on a car has been, then i've had it. i've had them all!!!!
