i've shipped some parts to UK and used fed ex and ups. don't remember the rate quoted now but my parts were lot bigger and heavier than a cam and the rates didn't seem that much higher, little over 200 dollars.

Thanks ede, so $70 is pretty much what you'd expect to pay?

Thanks

Andy thanks for that- what sort of charges were they? Do you check out the Europe forum on this site? I've not seen you around before?

Thanks ShiftyCapone, have placed the order on that advise.

Cheers

Whoever gets the package over there will open it up and inspect it and charge you whatwever your taxes are. The guy I sold the cam to delt with that. I tried to tell them that he spent much less than he really did to keep the taxes down but it didn't work. Since the box of stuff that I sent him was inssured for $400 they taxed him based off that. So in essence if you don't have package insurance on it you can tlel them you paid $5 for it and just have the guy you bought it off of make up a receipt that says so.

My brother just pointed out this interesting service :

http://www.moving-parts.com/

Seems that they do consolidated shipments to reduce the shipping costs. Never tried them, nor do I know anyone who has, but just a thought,

Si.

If you know anybody stationed over there in the military you can ship it to their APO address and it will cost you like it would in the states.

I don't know exact rates for UK shipping but a year ago I paid ~$60 postage for ZZ4 camshaft shipped to Poland via Airmail (arrived in 10 days ). Perhaps you'd better check at http://ircalc.usps.gov

Cheers

United States Postal Service 'mail by sea' approx 2 weeks, cheaper than UPS.

It costed me $37 to ship a whole center console piece to France and $22 to ship a T-top bag to the Netherlands. Insurance is a few dollars extra, depending on how much it's worth. Don't overestimate the insurance if he will be taxed on it, just enough to cover the part and shipping.

Hmm, they claim "4-6 weeks" for Surface Mail; my experience says it's never been shorter than 3 months
