cam selection 406" superram setup
need help with cam selection on my new engine.
Currently I have tpis zz9 camshaft but it seem a bit small for a 406cui. Maybe getting a single pattern cam?
406"
9.2 comp
JEGS 197 cc heads
Superram intake
TH700 act 2500rpm
9 psi procharger
Wont rev beyond 5800 rpm probably will stay at 5500 rpm.
Street driven, must pass emission.
thx/N.

You may want to look into the ZZ-409 cam from TPIS. It is quite a bit more aggressive than your ZZ-9 cam, and intended primarily for larger cubic inch small blocks such as yours. It will make roughly 40 more HP @ 5800 than the ZZ-9 cam with no loss in lower end torque. These numbers are based on a naturally aspirated 406. The cam will make peak HP in the 5800-6000 RPM range.
In Illinois we are not required to pass an emmision test so I am no expert on emmission questions. You will have to try to get that information from someone that knows more about it than me.
It is a single pattern cam with these specs:
.525 lift w/ 1.5's
226 Duration @ .050"
288 Adv. Duration
112 L/S
Hope this helps.

Superram is supposed to like sigle patter cams but with a blower a dual patter is recommended......
