New minirammed 383, running extremely rich, bogs over 1/8th throttle, how to fix
Ive got a new 383 miniramed, afr 195 headed, mass air 85 vette. The motor runs extremely rich at an idle. i havent even driven the car yet becuase it feels like its flooding/bogging when you give it any gas. car occasionally does a quick little flame out the maf like it backfired. Cam timing is correct, fuel press at 40 psi, no vacuum leaks, any ideas?

Thats funny when I switched to the miniram I had the opposite. It backfires through the intake because it was to lean. What kind of ecm do you have(prom)? I bet if you raise the fuel pressure it gets better.

Is it flooding, or is it bogging? Flooding is an extremely rich condition such that there is so much fuel that the plugs get washed, bogging is a caused by a lean condition.
From your description, it is lean. Backffiring out the intake is not caused by a rich condition.
Your car is equipped with one of the best tuning aids you can have, its computer. The O2 sensor will tell you what the mixture is. Start there. More than likely youwill need a custom chip. Also, 40 psi is low for most cars like this, unless you have 30 lb/hr injectors or something. Stock is about 43. Try raising it to 46 or 47 and see if it improves.
