retro fit in factory roller

Ok, ive searched and really didnt come up with much.

its an easy question: can retro fit cams/lifters be used in factory roller blocks?

I'm pretty sure the answer to that is yes and yes.
Never tried the lifters tho.

yeah there's nothing differant from a roller block to a non roller block as far as aftermarket roller cams go.

It's not an easy answer though! The camshaft would fit with the standard cam button in place on the front to keep it from walking.

The lifter bores are taller on a "roller block". The lifter bars would likely hit the top of the lifter bores especially if it was an aftermarket camshaft with reduced base circle (most are to some degree). The top of the bores can be ground down to make it work though.

I haven't looked in a long time but there used to be taller aftermarket roller lifters available. I'm not sure if they were available in hydraulic though.

Three sets of solid lifters I checked would not clear. One set was CompCams, one was Crower and I don't remember the other brand.

Also, the Speed Pro retro-fit hydraulic roller lifters would not work without grinding the block.

So, I guess I'm saying; Yes/Maybe

Wish I could be more exact but it's been a while since I researched this.

If you have a roller block , why would you want a retrofit setup

My current engine is a 2 bolt main, 2 piece RMS. i converted it to a roller setup with retro fit hardware. recently i aquired a bare block. 4 bolt mains, 1 piece rear main seal, roller design. i want to switch the cam/lifter setup over to the new block.

im also gonna slowly build up that other block as a hi-rev motor (convert to 4 bolt splayed etc). so i'll just ask here. i think i read somewhere that RB said it, but i dont remember. what about solid roller. can they go in either (hydraulic or hyd. roller block), as it was never a factory provision?
