Well, I didn't notice it when I had the orignal air cleaner assembly on the car, but when I changed to an open element, there was a noticable difference, and the engine sounded much cooler. Love the sound of injectors spraying!

I've got a TBI and I was thinking of doing something along the lines of open element with the K&N Xstream top plate and a ram air hood.. from stats I've seen, I'd say you'd notice a decent difference.. as far as TPI, I'm sure there'd be a significant difference.. why else would they make it?

I made a home made one from behind my driving lights on mt iroc and I don't really notice it in street driving but in expressway driving I really notice a huge difference.

www.ramairbox.com has some neat ram air options for carbeurated and TBI equipped cars. I've seen people with their brights removed and these things ran to the holes. Pretty trick.

I notice a big difference over 55-60MPH to about 110MPH. And the engine always gets cooler air. definately a SOP improvement.
you can look at my website this weekend and I should have my how to up by then.
