Should I get new springs with my new cam??

I bought the LT4 Hot Cam and I am in the process of installing it. With the 1.52:1 rocker arms on my car now, the valve lift with be .498" the stock springs are good to .500" since its so close, should I get new springs? If I do, what will a machine shop charge me to install them? I have no idea how do to it. Thanks a lot!

Stock springs are terrible. I'd replace those and do the valve seals while I was at it. Are the heads off the car? Shouldnt cost much to just swap out some springs if they are, its a fairly simple job with the right tools.

Absolutely.

Get Comp 981s, I'd trust them more than I would the GMPP ones.

There are several ways to do springs with the heads on the car. Since you're already swapping the cam you're already about 90% of the way there. You can do it with a bar-type or a screw-type (not a C-clamp type) spring compressor, and either an air chuck or some rope.

Don't forget to do the valve seals at the same time. Using the recommended valve springs is always a good idea. If the heads are still original, those valve springs are 14 years old and should be changed anyway.
