Best ideas for 350cid build
Just gettin started!!!
I just bought some venolia 11:1 pistons, a pair of gm vortec heads, eagle esp rods (6"), and will soon be purchasing the performer RPM intake. I'm running out of cash, but hopefully I can sell some stuff to replenish my funds!
Thanks for all the help!
Thanks for all the help!
This is what I have so far:
-wiseco 10:1 forged pistons w/ moly rings (pro tru kit) full floating
-eagle esp rods 5140 forged 6" bushed
-comp cams pro magnum roller rockers
-vortec heads that will soon be machined for .550 lift w/ screw in studs and hardened guide plates
-comp cams xe274 cam kit
I decided that the venolia domed pistons would give me too much compression. Now all I have to do is find someone to buy them from me. The block is still sitting in my best friend's shed gaining more and more rust but it still needs to be machined.
Just had another question:
-which crank?
-5140 no brand crank from china --- $300
-4340 eagle crank LW model 48lb --- $415
-or something else
Thanks in advance!

I would avoid the no name chinese crank. Then again, i think Eagle is imported, too.
If it were me, i would take an Eagle or Scat over a no name any day.
Are you building for all out nitrous or something? That combo doesnt strike me as the combo that NEEDS a 4340 crank. you could probably get by fine with a Eagle ESP series crank for that matter.

Well, I just want to build an engine that is pretty stout so if I want to do something to it in the future (like nitrous or some other power adder) I could do it without having to build a whole new engine. The only thing I might have to change would be the pistons if I wanted a blower or any type of forced induction, unless I can use the 10:1 ones that I have comming (but I think I would need a lot less compression than that).
My goal is still 400 ponies n/a but maybe 500 w/ juice. What kind of main caps would you recommend (2-bolt, 4-bolt straight, or 4-bolt splayed)?

Nitrous likes compression. Blowers do not. When i had a nitrous fed 383, it was off of a ZZ4 block which is 4 bolt, non-splayed caps. That was using the Eagle ESP series crankshaft and Scat I beam rods. It ran fine and i was jetting a 125 shot.
