ATTN: Anyone considering Accel Header spark plugs
ATTN: Anyone considering Accel Header spark plugs
Ok, I blew 30 bucks on these POS plugs about 2 months ago. Only reason I bought them is because they were shorter than AC Delco's and I needed the room. Well, after doing some research, I decided to give the NGK's a try.
When I got my headers installed yesterday, I pulled my Accel plugs and put them side by side with my NGK's.... thier the same size!
Plus, on 5 of the 8 plugs, the screw on tips were loose and about to fall off. Never again will I waste my money on those.
The NGK's I have are the UK5 V-power series and I paid $13 for the set.

Bosche plugs are also the same length as the Accell's. I too have heard about the Accell's coming loose and falling apart. You could always use a standard length plug and just use a modified spark plug socket that will allow you to have access to the plugs around your headers.

ive used accels for about 3 years in various cars with headers without problems.
you should tighten the spark plug tip on EVERY spark plug regardless of who makes it. if thats your only complaint, then its your own fault...
btw, SOME ac delcos are also shorter...

I too am using the Accel plugs, no problems. I agree with Mrdude you have to snug up the tips with a pair or pliers before installation.
I did.... and did it again after a month when I pulled them to check how they were burning.
The problem wasn't in getting a socket on them with the headers installed but with my old flowtechs, the number 8 plug wire boot was so close to the header that you could barely slip a piece of paper between them. Now with my Hooker 2460's, I got plenty of room; even if I were to switch back to an AC Delco plug.
I know some AC's are shorter but i was using the R43TS's. Not sure about the others.

I used to use those plugs...I got them from a local speed shop for 15$ a set thought. With my hedman LT's normal plugs didn't want to fit. But with my old hooker and the edelbrock's I have now R45TS ac delco's fit fine.
If the accell plugs didnt come loose as easily as they do they would be great.

With my Hookers, a regular AC plug would probably fit just fine but the NGK's give that extra room and plus I haven't used NGK's before. I hope they work out; they were recommended by several people.

I've run Accel shorty plugs and also think they're stupid ...They're barely shorter than a standard plug and definately didnt help with my #7 plug-to-header interference ...even with a HUGE dent in the header tube.
I did not have any problems with the plugs just had to tighten the tips. As a matter of fact the did come in handy as they offered more clearance than my AC 45's. This is just my experience.
