Vaccum leak from hell!

I have a vaccum leak that I cant find at all.....I though it was my CSI but that turned out to not be it. Its coming from the drivers side....I did the propane thingy and the rpm's go higher when I go over the area of the CSI and runner and rocker cover.......I changed the O-ring on the injector but the leak is still there. I also had to adjust my rockers so when I took the covers off and did that and put the covers back on...the leak seems to have gotten worse...or it may just be in my head...could the valve cover gaskets go bad? They have been on the car when I did my intake gasket 3 years ago...Im using the rubber gaskets...

or could it be my runner gasket on that side?

When I move the wiring harness of the drivers side injectors ( the ones laying on top of the cover running the length of the valve cover) it seems to cover the leak some how...or uncover how ever you want to put it......changes sound...

Im at a stand still........

GM is not open tomorrow...where can I find valve cover gaskets for center bolts? I guess I'll replace them and see what happens.....can the rubber gaskets go bad after so long? Since I put them on this is the first time I have removed them, the passenger side is fine...Im just assuming it the gaskets...

I guess tomorrow, I also remove my runner on that side and put it back on and see what happens.

any ideas guys?

How can I tell if its the intake gasket? I damn sure dont want to take all that stuff back off. IF it is the intake gasket, how can I fix it with out taking everythign back off.

Wouldnt the intake gasket blow oil out? what ever this leak is, when I take a cig and put it in the area of the leak..I can watch the smoke go towards that area circle but I cant tell where it goes......so the leak is sucking in.

The AZ gakets? what kind are they? rubber or something else?

What torque value did you put on the intake manifold bolts. But, I suspect that your valve cover gasket is on its last gasp. The Fel-Pro gaskets I got from AZ were blue rubber ones.

You may have to bite the bullet if it is a intake gasket.
1) it will not be blowing oil.
2) no short cut for this repair.
3) use the Fel-Pro intake gasket kit, includes everything needed for about $25.
4) you are in the general area for this leak.
5) rubber gaskets???? another reason for failure.

Or would you like your car to continue stalling on you???

There isn't any vacuum in your crankcase minus your PCV, so you can rule your valve cover gaskets out. They are bad when they leak oil. Have you tried using carb cleaner/propane/water around the suspected area?

Felpro is the gasket set I used. I just finished with my cam swap.
I havent really drove the car except to get the straight pipe put in.
The only rubber gaskets that are on are the valve cover gaskets.. They are the old rubber ones that I put on when I had to do an intake gasket a few years ago. I did the intake gasket the same way as I did last time. Thats why I have a hard time thinking its the intake gasket.

Get some carb cleaner and spray it around the area you hear the leak. The motor will either revv or bogg when it gets sucked in. Make sure you use that little straw to get the spray directed in one specific spot.

Hope this helps

Ok guys,,,I found the problem, it was the runner gasket. THere was a part that I had to cut on it so the CSI would fit but little did I know that would cause I vaccum leak...luckly I had an extra one for that side last time I did the intake gasket...put it on and all is well...now the car idles like a champ..had to reset the IAC and TPS but that was no big deal...
Whew! Im glad it wasnt an intake gasket!

thanks for the ideas!
