Camaro, I assume? The dual snorkel and a KN filter will impress you.

The heat stove tube, which connects the exhaust manifold with the driver's side snorkel, fits exactly like your stock piece--the whole business is a direct replacement. How would smog be affected? One suggestion: when you swap a dual snorkel in make sure that both vac motors function. If not, the doors won't open and as a consequence, you won't experience the bennies of the set-up.

In CA, that tube has to be hooked up, like every other emissions-related piece that came on the car.
But, it's on the same side. You can just go to Auto Zone or Checkers and get a piece of that tubing (it's 1¾", hangs on a rack not far from the air filters) amd hook it right up.
That's the best posible air cleaner you could use. It gives your engine 2 ducts instead of one, of cold air instead of hot under-hood air like an open element would. It;s the way to go.
Incidentally, the vacuum closes the doors when it's cold, it's not needed to open them when hot. Their "normal" position is open.
