HELP!!! I'M WORKING ON A HONDA!

My moms 94' Accord is having troubles, It's got fuel, fire and a new timing belt. It will run for about ten minutes then sputter and die, wait a few minutes and it will slowly start. Also has a new fuel filter.
Can someone help me or direct my plea?

When it's dying, does it have fuel pressure?

That sounds sort of like a fuel pump.

Mike,

What ELSE would you be doing with a Honda?

It's also possible that the ignition coils/amplifier/control could be overheating and shutting down. Early Ford (Motorcraft) electronic ingnition amplifiers were notorious for this. After a cool down period, you could drive for another ten miles, then have it die again. Wait for it to cool, and your're off again for a ten mile run.

Could be an ignitor.

Usually if the ignitor is bad, when you've got it so it won't start, the tach doesn't bounce. It just lays there. (while cranking)

This isn't a 100% sure fire test, just what I've observed.

It depends on how it stalls, if it sputters then its probably not the ignitor, they usually fail as if you turned off they key.

As stated above, check your fuel pressure and spark when you have a no start.

just take off all of the good parts, sell them, then buy broken parts form the junkyard and put them back on.. now, roll it into the closest river and wait about 3 hours to report it stolen. oh wait.. forget that.. it's not legal

From: pgh,pa,
if u already have fuel (doused all over the interior hopefully) and u have spark (an oily rag in the gas tank) then i dont really understand what the problem is.
