What thread sealer to use on head bolts????

What thread sealer to use on head bolts????

At the auto parts store there is like 15 different types and brands of tread sealer which is the best for use on head bolts?

don't.

just make sure your not re-using your old "torque-till-yeild" bolts. buy new ones.

and torque the new ones down to the proper spec.

anything non hardening should work. liquid teflon seems to be the prefered sealer any more. i use permatex PST.

Why can't i use the stock bolts??? They are new off a GM create engine just changing the heads

SBC doesn't use TTY bolts. you can tell a TTY bolt by a torque spec like 45 ft/lbs and a 1/4 turn or 45 ft/lbs and 90*turn

That will be ok for head bolts. However I have found that gas breaks that sealant down so I wouldnt use it to seal rocker studs or intake bolts....

i use plumbers pipe thread dope in can with cap brush, ive never had any problem with using such for ten years now
