Not so good sound coming from engine.
My baby has started making a screeching sound from what sounds like the drivers side head.
The screeching sound is loud at idle and as the rpms go up it goes away.
She has 120k miles and is pretty much stock.
She has good oil pressure.
This started just before i changed the oil and has continued since.
How about some ideas on what it could be.
I'll be pulling the valve cover off tonight to take a look.

I took off the serpentine belt and the noise is still there.
It still sounds like it is coming from the drivers side valve cover?
Any suggestions?
I am pulling the valve cover after i finish this post.

get a piece of rubber hose and stick one end in your ear, or by your ear and the other where you think the noise is and listen. after you pin point the loaction better start a hands on inspection. maybe pull the vavle cover.

Still not any closer to the answer!
I pulled the valve cover and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
All the valves are getting oil and the damn noise sounds like it could be coming from one of the two rear cylinders on the drivers side.
All the pushrods appear to be going straight down their holes and not touching the sides.
Any suggestions?

Went to the shop today for a second opinion and he said to replace the rockers. He has heard this before from stock rockers with a lot of miles. What rockers do you all recommend? Is there anything else i should replace while i have this stuff taken apart?
Thx,
Chris

i'd look for another shop. i've had SBCs since high school, and that's been a couple of years now, and have never had a rocker make any noise after a lot of miles. at the very least why don't you inspect them before you throw parts at it. if you replace the rockers comp roller tips are a good rocker for the price.

Got it figured out!!!! WOOOHOOO!
It was the distributor.
I guess after 120k miles it finally decided to make some noise.
Back to the track i go.
