Engine Stalling

I have a 9:1 355 with a Comp 268H cam in it. I'm using a 600 Holley on top (for monetary reasons) and a performer RPM manifold. It idles fine at around 1000 RPM, but once I put it in drive, it stalls. Any ideas? Timing's at 12 degrees before as per Comp's instructions.

Also, the thing's only pulling 11'' of vacuum. Not sure if that's relevant (as I'd imagine it's the cam), but figured I'd put it in here anyway.

How did you time the cam installation? Degree wheel? From the intake lobe centerline?

How is compression?

Haven't checked compression.

Had the motor assembled by a machine shop here...so they installed the cam.
