massive wheel hop problem

ive never ad wheel hop before, but two days ago at the track i got massive wheel hop at the track, it was real bad, i only ran twice and it happened both times. im scared i was gonna break something.

anyways the only thing i have changed to my car was the isntallation of the tranny mount with the energy suspension brand.

any idea wtf is going on? did soemthing else break? torque arm mount maybe?

When I first built my GTA, I tried her out with the stock trailing arms in the rear and had real bad wheel hop (only tried a couple times, bad enough to lay off it)... Then I put my edelbrock trailing arms and they fixed it... As for your situation, maybe some vibrations are transferring more with the poly mount where they didn't with the stock rubber mount... You might also search around on here about the ES transmission mount.. On my setup (I use that mount too), I found that with the extra plate they include with it, the mount was too tall (actually, it's still a bit tall I think) and was causing funny driveline angles/vibrations...

These guys already covered most of it. Look at the LCAs and bushings, torque arm mounting bolts and bushing, and torque arm angle.

"L'il crooked"?

In what axis/plane? In the Z-axis or vertical plane? That wouldn't be a good thing. Crooked, as in warped/bent, or just a straight torque arm mounted at an angle?

hard to describe, i guess it might be warped, but i dunno how they supposed to look cuz this is the first time i actually inspected one.

this is very annoying, i dunno what i am looking for. all i know is at the track i get really bad wheel hop - almost uncontrollable, but on the street, i can luanch just fine.

maybe my tranny mount is a peice of crap, i will go put a stock one on it :S

Your trans mount should have almost nothing to do with traction. Something has gotta be messed up in your rear suspension. A mid 15 second car should have no problem hooking on stock suspension.

exactly what it sounds like, say your trying to do a burn out or launch during drag racing and instead of just spinning or hooking the wheels actually "hop" or jump off the pavement maybe someone else can give a better explination

ok ok. I was thinking like you hit something(like a burb) and the wheel hopped off the ground. I dunno, i'm a litte stupid down there. Sounds like it wouldn't be very cool.

Are you watering your tires at the track? Into the VHT chemicals? Lowering your air pressure? If you're not getting hop/lurch on the street pavement, and all else is equal, you may be going through the water boxes or VHT. You may be losing enough grip on the street to mask a borderline axle control condition.

Just one wheel, or the whole rear? Someone at the track should be able to tell you if they watch.

the cool dude on a corvette behind me said my hole end was bouncing, i believe i did get my tires a lil wet because people track the stuff into the burnout pit from the little dip.. i did a small burnout though, just a tiny smoke, maybe that didnt burn it all off?

would tires that were wet with that stuff cause wheel hoP? cuz if so, that could be a great explanation! I am poor and really cant afford to just start replacing **** till its fixed.

I'd check the shocks like mentioned above. That was the source of my wheel hop at one time.
