Cam for TFS Heads and HSR
I just got a set of TFS CNC 64cc Heads, and the HSR intake.
The Cam I have in the car is a Comp Cams :
Intake: Exhaust:
Lift: .512 .507
Duration: 206 216
Lobe Separation: 115.0
Is this cam a good match for this combo? This car is not a daily driver so I could do pretty much any cam. I want something that I can hear the Idle.
Thanks,
Ray

That's a really mild cam for an HSR combo. I'd run at least a 224/230 type cam. Myself, I run a 230/236 cam with my HSR and lopes pretty good.

What lobe seperation would be ideal for that setup? Before I did any research I had a local shop here regrind my stock cam close to those specs, but went with a 108 lobe sep. I will have another ground with 110, or 112. Sound good?

How about this:
Crane PowerMax
Duration: 222/230
Lift: .509/.528
Lope Seperation: 112
then with a 1.6 rocker on the Intake should put it at .540/.528
What do you think about this?

Why do you want 1.6 on the intake side only?
What are your rear gears? what is your stall speed? where do you want your power band to be?

This is going to be a weekend warrior, so I'm willing to do just about anything to it. I'm pretty sure I'm even gonna put a custom 6 point cage in it. My Goal is to have a 11 sec street car.

Comp Cams hydraulic roller Nitrous HP series. Part number 12-419-8
-NX288hr
-2500+ stall, lower gears, good headers and exhaust
-2400-6500 RPM power band
-ADV. DURATION: 288°/315°
-.050" DURATION: 236°/248°
-LIFT W/ 1.5rr: .520/.540
-LOBE SEPERATION: 113°
Or best yet, call Comp or your choice of company and get a custom grind.
If you are getting a new cam, dont get a cam and use rocker ratio to adjust the lift. Youre getting a new cam anyway, just get the cam that has the desired lift ground in. Of course, id suggest getting the proper components to match this. or if you are REALLY feeling bold, try your luck at a solid roller setup. When it comes to power via good cam, they cant be beat. Im running a solid roller in my 355. i love it.
