Apparently, you've been misinformed. The IAC is NOT adjustable. The IAC pintle position is controlled solely by the ECM.

Vader, aren't you referring to the MCS that is controlled by the ECM. the IAC is the big screw on the top front of the Q-jet that you adjust the Idle air to get a 50% dwell. If it has never been changed there is usually a metal cap rivited on top of it.

Doesn't matter. (Nice copy of my article, BTW. )

And on your E4ME, that isn't an "IAC" It's a mixture solenoid position adjustment, or "MC" solenoid adjustment. There are also lean and rich stops that need to be checked/adjusted in association with that screw.

The procedure for adjusting the MC is significantly different than the one linked.

Yeah - I presumed that from your original post and name. The information is still the same. The only "adjustment" of the IAC is to set the pintle length when installing a replacement IAC, and that is primarily to prevent damage to the IAC pintle on installation.

You can force the V6 ECMs to "relearn" the IAC position without touching the stepper motor (IAC), or be patient and it will learn it eventually.

Backing up a step or two, why exactly do you feel you need to "adjust" the IAC? Are you experiencing idle problems?
