and i know the heads will suck but 416 heads 58 cc 1.84, 1.50
but thats all i can afford right now

this is in a 85 iroc with a 700r4 and a 3:42 gear

What do you think it will make power wise and 1/4 time? Please give me your thoughts on how to make it better.

(350 Punched .60) Good.

(Big *** Crane Cam) Good.

(RPM Intake) Good.

(750 Edelbrock Carb) Ok-ish.

(Stock Valve 416, assuming your doing some porting/bowl blending) Bad, will instantly kill a fair amount of HP on a build like this.

416's and 601's are good performance heads with work but thier not high performance heads which you would need to take full advantage of the rest of your component selection. Anthing over 220@.50 duration really needs 2.02's to take full advantage of (a) larger more agressive camshaft. Granted a 1.84, 1.50 combo would work but it would work alot better with a smaller camshaft.
If your into Crane cams and are dead set on this combo an 1159K blue racer series would probably make better power then the cam your thinking about with the stock 416's. Either way I hope you like preimium fuel and octaine booster. At over $2.00 a gallon its too mcuh for me to pay anymore.

 

SSC is right, don't skimp on the heads... it will bite you later.

 

What heads would you recommend, and with flat top pistons and with either 58 or 64 cc heads what kind of compression will I be looking at? Also what gears will I have to use to stay in the cruise range that is recommend for the cam. The range is 4200 to 4600.

 

If you don't want to break the bank on a set of heads, you could hunt down a set of 083 castings... those are the stock heads (64cc) on a 350 TPI motor. They are better than either of those heads.

You might be able to find a set of Corvette 350 TPI heads around too. The difference is that they are 58cc heads (not 64cc), they probably flow better, or at least equal to the 083s, and they are aluminum. I don't know the casting number though.
