Also, my dad will be doing all the work, he is an excellent mechanic, and I plan to learn off him. But he doesn't know as much about the newer cars, and doesn't know much about Camaros (Man if I knew half of what he did though, he can do like anything and if he's not capable now, he reads up on it and is able to do what he tried the next time...it's amazing). The reason I have been asking you all instead of him, you guys know the specifics of the Camaro. He has also been working real hard lately, so I don't want to pester him too much (he is already going to help me with the 305 engine swap, and the 350 buildup swap) so I am trying to do as much as I can on my own. Also, I want to learn how to work on cars as well so the more I learn, the better. It is amusing going down Ogden Ave. in Naperville (cop like every block later at night) and just cruising along, with hope that I am doing the speed limit. I try keeping the car at a steady RPM but it is scary with a Camaro being a 25 year old guy at the wheel (but I look slightly younger) not knowing how fast I am going. I also don't want to bring my car to a shop, and pay someone $100+ to fix something I can do myself or with my friend or dad's help for $20.00 and a trip to the boneyard. Also, I tend not to trust paid by the hour mechanics. Would it be worth it for me to swap an IROC guage cluster since I am getting the V8 put in anyhow? What all do I need for that swap besides obvious (guage cluster, all connectors, I am guessing VSS.)

Just depends on what you are attempting, by your sig I assume you are going from a 2.8L V6 to a V8, In the process if I'm understanding correctly your are installing a TH350 and probably removing the computer controlls ect. In that case I'd just grab a new guage cluster from an older cable driven car. That way you dont need to worry about VSS garbage. Now if your swapping a whole TPI or TBI ect setup then you can retain the VSS function I'm sure someone makes an aftermarket TH350 VSS setup, Ive just not seen one.
