IAC. TPS. Timing.
IAC. TPS. Timing.
What is the best order to do these in? Also my RS "farts" in between shifts usally when I shift between 4000rpm and 4500rpm. By farts I mean I can hear air pass through the exhaust almost like a backfire but not nearly as loud. At the same time theres a pop in my intake. I posted this before and someone sugested that I retrard my timing to 6* I have had it at 14*(like the chiltons told me). So my question is what should I have my timing at for a bone stock V-6?

HIX,
Timing first, since it will affect the idle speed when you get to cleaning the IAC and adjusting the minimum throttle position. Since you will likely move the throttle base position when you set minimum air, adjust the TPS last. If the TPS is WAY off, you might need to adjust the minimum air again, then check the TPS.
As always, only perform control adjustments on a fully-warmed engine.

By saying do, I assume you mean adjusting?
I would set the minimum idle speed first, then the tps, then the timing, then go back and check all 3 again just to be sure.
As for the flagellation problem (farting), I'd say the exhaust pop is pretty much normal, but the intake pop makes me think that it may be a "lean backfire". Probably not really a problem (I'd have to actually witness the problem to be sure).
I think 14* sounds right for a 2.8, and if that's what Chilton's and your underhood sticker say, I'd go with it, or something close to it. I would move it from there a couple * at a time to find what runs best.
