Why is my alternator get so da%& hot
Maybe this is a stupid question but after puting in a TPI set up, i noticed after my car runs for awhile my alternator gets really hot, even my friend said something about it. I ran the part numbers and they were the same for TBI set ups and TPI set ups. Any ideas or is it just my imagintion???
Unless your electrical demand has increased significantly (and it should not have due only to a swap to TPI) the alternator should not be any hotter. You may have a coincidentally failing alternator, or inadequate cooling air flow.
Also, if you change the belt drive system, make certain the alternator is turning the correct direction. It will charge either way, but may not cool well is running backwards. The fan behind the drive sheave should be your guide.

All good points for me to check out, thanks........Vader what would cause inadequate coolant airflow ? The motor only has about 14,000 mi on it ?
