I.A.C counts
I.A.C counts
What should your i.a.c counts be at idle? Was doing tune-up today, and using the x-ray scanner my counts at idle are zero.Is i.a.c. bad? The numbers rise in smooth fashion, looking at differant books i get conflicting information. Thanks Mike

If I recall, when mine is warmed up, I get about 25 or so...if yours is at "0", could be due to the min idle set too high, or a vacuum leak, causing higher than normal idle conditions.

Yep, that's right. If the minumum idle speed is set correctly and you have no vacuum leak, you should see about 25 counts in closed loop at idle.

Actually, it depends on the general tune of your engine and how rich the car is running. I have made MASSIVE changes to my eprom to erraticate the excessive rich condition that GM puts in the eprom. Now I run 128/128 perfect and my IAC sits around 70 and idles perfect.
There are too many variables to say what the perfect IAC number is; it is dependent on all those factors in getting the proper number of "steps".
Also, different induction systems have different numbers. Get the idle smooth and let the engine tell you what IAC it wants. Even you ambient air temperature causes an effect if you have a relocated MAT.
