air filters
air filters
can someone tell me some filters that give my 3.1L (1990 camaro) more power. I live in ny so illegal emmisions mean nothing. I got a connection that will pass emissions for a couple of dollars. I dont care for no environment ,just power, can any one let me know the best intake filter?

Yeah, K&N's probably your best bet... And they're cleanable too! heh It's not like just an air filter's going to make your car incredibly fast, though.

For more power, yes. For better filtration, no.
AMSOIL offers all the flow of a K&N and much, much better particle size filtration, and as good as or better dirt holding capacity.

You might use a lot more fuel to create more power, but if your engine is at peak power it is operating efficiently enough to burn most of that fuel completely while it is in the chambers, where it will produce the most power. If you are not getting good combustion efficiency, you have more homework to do before you ever realize peak power output.
Oddly enough, the higher-performance engines are relatively clean burning. There are thousands of little "tree-hugger" four cylinders running around on the street spewing oil smoke because they are so undersized and tired, all under the guise of being "more efficient" and "environmentally freindly". The only environmentally freindly thing I could suggest is to recycle all of them, of force the liberals to drive them exclusively. (Wouldn't it be cool to see the Democratic National Committee being chauffered to the next national convention in Hyundai limos?) They might use less fuel, but more of that fuel is turned into pollution than on a well-tuned, fire-breathing monster of a V-8.
Personally, I like the feel of lots and lots of clean exhaust gasses emitting from my pipes - the more exhaust flow, the better I like it. Gets me out in front of all those "clean" cars where I can get some fresh air...
