Any tips for working with AN fittings
I remeber last time I played with them how much of a bitch it was to get the fitting on the s.s. hose. Any tips with working with this stuff. And should I teflon tape the ends?
Thank you gents

I have AN fittings throughout my car and they can be a pain to work with. Whenever cutting braided hose make sure you wrap it with electrical tape to prevent it from fraying. Also, make sure you use assembly lube. It make getting the hose into the fitting MUCH easier. Also don't use teflon tape or paste on the fittings, there is no need to.

What are you cutting them with. I tape them and carefully use a cut-off wheel with a piece of nylon or wood dowel in the hose. There is also a product ive seen which is a fixture with a chisel built in for cutting the hose. I dont do that much of it so i never bought one.

when i need one i figure out the length and what type fitting i want and go to an industrial hose supplier and have them make them for me, they use crimp on fittings way cheaper and a lot easier to do. cost about 5 dollars a hose for labor and the crimp on fittings are about 1/2 the cost of the screw type.

Ray Godman uses a diamond-edge cutoff saw, like a tile blade, with masking tape. That keeps the ends from fraying before you even get started. A hacksaw almost always causes trouble.
I like ede's suggestion... that's how I handle alot of things, is to get somebody with the right tool to do it for me when I realize that I don't have the one it takes.
