MAKING a boost referenced AFPR?

I saw one guy that made his mechanical fuel pump boost referenced. It was pre regulated to 6psi, and had a reference hole to atmospheric pressure. What he did was tap that hole for a vacuum fitting, connected it to the air intake. He gained 1 psi of fuel pressure for every pound of boost.

I'm wondering if I can do something similar with one of the 3 cheap Holley Regulators I have lying around. I've noted they all have a reference hole..like the mechanical pump..but I have no idea if it will work the same.

Should do the same thing... the only issue would be, if the diaphragm "bottomed" out at some point and would go no further. Seems like you could check for that pretty easy though with a regulated source of compressed air.

The FPR's on the LB9/L98 engines are vacuum and boost regulated. It's a pound for pound relationship - i.e. 10 psi boost gives you another 10 psi fuel pressure. All the injectors care is the difference in pressure from the rail to the intake. WOT@0psi = 50 psi, WOT@10 psi = 60 psi. HTH!

Andris, with 30lb injectors at 50 psi idle, 65 psi WOT
