383 buildup good dynoed combos?
383 buildup good dynoed combos?
Hey guys I am going to do a 383 build up with a 87 and latter roller block probably with 2.02 Vortec heads or something similar. As popular of a motor as the 383 is now I just wanted to hear some of your combos that you are running or have run and had it dynoed to back it up.
I'd like to know specs like CR, cam specs, heads, valve sizes/runners/CC, and all the other usuals. Preferably with dyno numbers to back not computer simulated programs. Track times with a third gen would be even better!
Even if only a couple of you have done this it would be very valuable to me.
Thanks in advance,
Taylor

My 383 combo is very streetable with 12in of vacuum at idle and a faily smooth idle. I've ran a 12.02 @ 113 1/4 mile with it. I think the combo has much more potential with a more radical cam and some port work on the heads. Heres the basic combo, you can look on my website for more details.
10.2:1 compression 383, 73 350 block
Dart Pro 1 215cc intake runners 2.05, 1.60 valves
Bullit Hydraulic roller cam .525 lift, 225 intake 230 exhaust duration @.05
RPM Airgap intake
Holly 750DP
Hedman 1 5/8 full length headers
You should be able to get very similar or maybe better results using some worked over Vortec heads.
