Help me before I order some pro lightning heads!!!please
I am gonna order some pro lightning 200cc cast iron heads with a comp cam 274* extreme energy cam flat tappet and some comp cams magnum 1.6r roller tip rockers...ok here are my questions....Where can I find the complete heads for the cheapest? Do I need longer or shorter pushrods with these heads? Guys I need help really fast
you need to dummy up the engine and check push rod length to know what you need. you can't predict and you can't guess at it. i'd buy the heads bare and assemble them myself with the parts i wanted. the springs that come with them will be cheap and most likely not match your cam.

See, I disagree, if you're not sure what you're doing I'd order the complete heads, as long as you talk to them and check the spring specs first, and then you can be reasonable sure they're set up right. Now if you're pretty knowledgeable and able to check the spring heights and all that, then i'd buy 'em bare.
If you want to buy them bare, just buy a complete cam kit, it'll come with everything you need except studs and valves and shims. If you go that route spend I'd spend the money and get the Manley pro-flow valves or similar, in my flow bench tests they really do make a difference at lower valve lifts.

It's a much work to set up a set of heads PROPERLY as it is to build the shortblock. Maybe MORE.
If you don't have all that expertise, buy them complete after a consultation with them concerning the specifics of YOUR engine, camshaft, etc.

Well I would buy the heads fully assembled with the Kit-2 springs and go with Comp Cams Hi-Tech pushrods pt no. 7993-16. They are +.100 over stock and unless your blocks deck height has been drastically altered (which i doubt) they should work fine. Thats the set-up I used on my Protoplines along with a set of 1.6 Scorpion aluminum roller rockers and the valvetrain geometry is right on. As for places to buy them Summit Racing Euipment has about the best price on these heads but Ive seen them on ebay from time to time cheaper.
