This sucks big vaccum! Mabye.....

For some reason my car will not idle at anything below 20*. Whenever I unplug the hose from the charcoal canister to my throttle body it works fine. I put the engine together and may have gotten one of the vaccum lines wrong but they look right. Any suggestions what it could be? I have a 1991 Z28 TPI 383.

Did you refer to the Emissions sticker under the front of your hood to make sure your vaccum lines are correct?

I have an SS hood man I wish I would have thought about keeping the routing sticker though. It's weird though, everything seems to be routed correctly but the only problem is when I plug in the top line from the charcoal box. Could it be bad?

Huh, what is your problem exactly? There is no such thing as making too much vacuum at idle, in fact in the old days that was one of the preferred method of setting your idle mixture/timing was to set for max vacuum. If your charcoal canister being hooked up is giving you a driveability problem then you either have something hooked up wrong or your canister purge is screwingup or something.

Well the problem is it will not idle correctly. When I go to put it in 8* it almost dies on me. When I get a good sounding idle *usually around 24* BTDC* it idles but it bogs down and back up continuesly. Whenever I hook up the ESC wire after setting timing it screws up even more *It cuts out at half throttle while driving*. I can set it at 8* if I adjust the TPS but I dont think thats right because I have a 91 and shouldnt have to adjust the TPS right? Also whenever I disconnect the vaccum from the charcoal canister to the throttle body the car revs up real high and allows me to set the timing to 8* perfectly without idling problems. I've replaced the TPS and virtually EVERY sensor on the car when I did the 383 swap. Please give suggestions this is out of my arena of expertese. I'm the kinda guy who knows alot about these cars but not alot of the basics. THANKS my PeEpS hehehe
