U just put a can in my almost bald left front tire that has a slow leak(gets 1/2empty in 2-3 days)I cannot replace my tires for at least 2 ,ore weeks,do you think it will stop the leak??It didn't seem to inflate it much and I USED A WHOLE CAN!!

Yea it will work but it throws your balance way off and when you go to get them replaced the guy changing them will be cussing you and probably will charge you alittle extra for having to remove all that stuff. They did me.

It depends on the nature of the puncture. For a small nail in the tread, I have found it to work well.

You have to follow the directions on the can very carefully: use the whole can, and then drive about 5 mile to get the sealant uniformly inside. Then go to a service station and fill it back up with air.

If you see the item that has punctured the tire, do NOT take it out. It actually helps with the sealing.

Lastly, when you take the tire to get fixed/replaced, make sure you tell the tire shop. The tire has a flammable/toxic mixture in it now. You need to warn the repairman.

Also, make sure that you completely shook the container and I believe you have to empty it upside down when filling the tire.

On a completely flat tire, there is enough air in the can to give you about 10 psi. It is JUST enough to drive a few miles to get the "glue" applied equally to the inside of the tire.

 

Oh god, reading something like this absolutely scares me. If your tire is almost bald and is loosing air because of it then it is way past it's service life and could fail at any time possibly hurting you and anybody on the road with you. Then you put fix a flat in it. They're gonna love you at the tire place.

Ever seen a guy smoke while letting the air out of a 'fix a flat' tire. It's not good. Please tell the shop that you put that **** in the tire if you do decide to use it.

ive got z28 wheels that were chromed.air was leaking around the rim so i put some fix a flat(i do'nt remember what brand)in.worked good for awhile but starting leaking again.i took the tire to a tire place and found out that it had removed large pieces of the chrome AND aluminum. it also ate around the valve stem.

 

Works great!! A note on the replacing tire thing ....... Come on guys, give him a break. Like in my case - a new tire for the lawn tractor was more than it was worth!! :lol

p.s. Not that I should have to say this, but you never know. I'm being sarcastic.

I HATE FIX A FLAT. That crap gets all over the place when you dismount the tire. It gets all over your hands, floor, etc. It's a pain in the as to clean up too. I can see using it in an emergency or for smal punctures, but I'm tired of people using that crap to fix 8 inch sidewall cuts and separated tires. Sorry, it's one of the things that just pisses me off.

I wish I could see this jalopy. It's cars like this that make it so when I tell people what I drive, they just shake their heads and try to imagine the hovel I live in. I'm guessing you're leaking air cause you've managed to wear the tire down to the steel radials. I'd go with duct tape and a can of oven paint.

 

Actually, it saved my @$$ once. Some people do use it incorrectly, but I was pullin up to a girl's house (booty call) and as I got out, I heard the psssssssssssssss of my tire. There was a piece of glass that punctured my tire. I got a can, and made it home 15 miles, and there was air the next morning. I mean, the stuff was LEAKING out of the tire, that's how bad it was. But the stuff worked. I got the tire plugged the next day, and replaced a week later. Sad thing is I missed out on some action that night.

Fix a flat is a mess no question, that's kind of how the stuff works! I don't expect to ever use it on my car. I'd much rather just use the AAA card. If I'm on the high way then yeah I'll use it but that is the only time. I used it this summer on my grand marq, worked great and I don't plan on changing the tire any time soon. I don't understand why some people hate it so much, it does it's job and is better for your car than the small donut (especially if you have a posi).
What is with people being so cheap that they won't even get new tires AFTER the old ones start leaking BECAUSE of the lack of tire tread. I'm sorry but that is just as bad as DWI. You're tire is more likely to blow out than anybody elses and you might loose control of the car and hurt somebody.

In the last few years, because of the flammability prob, all inflate tire sealers are now using non-flammable propellent.

 

Ummmmm....I think that all Thirdgen F-bodies from 1982 thru 1992 came with what's called a "Spare Tire". I may be wrong, but I THINK that it's that big-*** round lookin' thing in the passenger side rear compartment of Thirdgens......Or maybe that's for better weight distribution while were drag racing......Correct me if I'm wrong please....

Yeah dude, that stuff blows big time. I would only use it for emergencies, like when your in the desert and 20 or so miles from the next service station. Then you use that crap. And if you are looking to buy tires, I just bought from www.tirerack.com Bridgestone Potenza RE910 tires and dude, they kick *** .

Don't any of you guys have the CO2 canister? Just go buy a tire fix kit in Wal Mart and toss it next to your tank, it'll fix 90% of the stuff you encounter, AND you ahve the stuff to plug your tire yourself!
