This happened to me coming home from work tonight. I was going down a street at about 40 chasing my girlfriend home in her car. And I had to slam on my brakes for a light. My car died. Then it happened just a little later on the way home I hit the brakes, it died. What the hell? Also, yesterday, I tried hanging a U-turn and I guess I turned the wheel too much cause, *clunk* died on me. What would the steering have to do with my car dying?

Your idle speed may be a bit low. What kind of fuel system do you have? If you have can, check the minimum throttle position.

With a low idle, the loss of vacuum to the brake power booster can be enough to stall a warm engine at a low idle. The extra power required to operate a power steering pump when it is held tightly against the lock can also stall an engine that is barely idling. Forcing the steering against the lock can also eventually cause wear of the sector gear and pitman arm, so it is not the best practice. Once you hit the end of steering travel, back off on the steering wheel pressure a bit to avoid holding it tightly against the locked position.
