Please help, I'm confused!
Good morning everyone, I was wndering if you might give me some advise as to where to start. To begin with I have a 89 RS drop top with a 305 TBI motor in her. The motor is new with only about 2500-3000 miles on her( I've got the dealership reciepts). The owner replaced the engine at the dealership prior to selling. I have had my own mechanics go through the car thoroughly. They say everything checks out and she is in awesome condition. After purchasing I replaced all the usual replacement parts for a used car anyway, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, etc etc. She runs awesome. However once in a while she simply stalls out at a stop light. She immediately starts right back up and is burning rubber off the line. She runs very strong. I am thinking that my coil is possibly going out. That I did not replace. I want to replace it with a high power coil anyway. I also thought that maybe it could be due to having a very dirty throttle body or something. She stalls maybe once in every 10-15 times I drive her. Any ideas? Or is more information needed? Oh one last thing. My oil presure gauge is on the fritz and the needle flops around everywhere. I do know that the oil pressure is steady and good. The dealership told me that the owner had a high pressure high volume oil pump installed that goes to 80 psi or so and the gauge only reads up to 60. So that's why the needle flops around. The question is "Is the computer set to cut the engine if the oil pressure gauge hits a certain psi? Thanks for all your help and ideas in advanced. Have a great mroning everyone!

The stalling sounds like a dirty (sticking) idle air control motor. That's something you can easily repair yourself.
The oil pressure gauge thing is probably the sending unit. Also easy to replace.
The ECM has no hookup to oil pressure except for the fuel pump relay, which works the other way (drops out when oil pressure is too low). SO I doubt the 2 things are in any way related.

All good advice IMHO. Might check vacuum lines as well, especially if they haven't been changed for a while. Could also be a PCV vavle sticking open (causes a BIG vacuum leak), they're also cheap and easy to change.
Good Luck!!!

Yes; it's a little thing that bolts on the TBI. Maybe somebody else that has TBI can post a pic, or you can check the TBI board on this site for pointers. You can unscrew it and clean it with spary carb cleaner.
