When you tap the negative battery cable to the terminal, what does it do?
If it sparks, you have a bad ground somewhere. When my battery lost its charge (went from brand new to dead in 2.5 days) it turned out that the ground strap going from the passenger side cylinder head to the firewall was corroded. Replaced that and my battery holds a constant charge now.

Hello z91bowtie,
The brown wire that goes to C100 on the firewall goes to the "FAN" fuse on the fuse block. Prior to that it splits off and goes to the coolant fan relay and the heavy duty coolant fan relay. The small red wire is a fusible link that goes to the starter solenoid. The larger red wire or red/black wire is also a fusible link and goes to the battery. If all wires are good and the alternator is good, the next logical choice would be a battery that just won't charge. Hint for the fans not coming on: Remember the brown wire and fan relays?

Happened to me last fall, new alternator and still no charging. Run a wire from the plug on your alternator--i can't remember which side, look at a wiring diagram, and fun it to the + battery side. Mine worked just fine after that. Car had an engine swap so now things are all new, but hey, it worked for me in a pinch.
