AIR pump delete

Is the AIR pump something that needs to be operational to prevent the cat from fouling up?

Thank you

I don't believe so. But the air pump helps the cat out quite a bit......aids in the catalyzing process I guess. The cat might not LAST quite as long, but I'm not really sure. Emissions aren't a concern for me....

If you dont care about emissions go ahead and delete it, nothing will happen I did it myself.

Have you ever had any problems getting pulled over? There used to be some cops around here (Eureka) who would look under your hood if they pulled you over, and some guys got major fines.
I think the guys who did that retired or moved away. Still... not all, but some cops can tell the difference between a TPI and a Holley on a high rise intake.

Get a 3 way catalytic converter, they dont require AIR to function properly.

Yes I have had plenty of problems getting pulled over but emissions had nothing to do with them

For the most part they wont know anything about it. If he does then ur F*cked. I really wouldnt worry tho, if you are actually concerned about that at all I wouldnt even bother yanking it. Dont be scurrred

Got it...
My thinking is, if I keep the idle reasonably mellow and make up for the HP loss of using a smaller cam by increasing the cubic inches, then I'll still be able to have a fast car without generating too much suspicion.

Thanks for your feedback

The AIR system basically has a furnace effect on the cat. It forces more air into it to heat it up more. Cuts down on HC and CO output from the engine. I did some research on this a while back, and found some guys were removing AIR for two years at a time, hooking it back up, and going back for emissions to pass with flying colors.

I personally just bought 2 three way cats so I don't have to deal with plugging the air tubes on the cats. Not to mention, the 3 way cats also function to remove NOx from the exhaust as well with the addition of rhodium as a catalyst.

Bro if you do that you'll have a tiny cam. You wont get pulled over for a lopey engine (least I havent seen it yet) you will however get pulled over for too loud of an exaust (least I have a couple of times) never made me pop my hood. Most likely cuz most people dont know a thing about cars. So just get a quiet exaust that flows great and youll be fine. My friends stang runs 10s and its quiet as **** I donno how but it is.

3 way just refers to the three regulated emissions it helps to reduce (as mentioned, it not only oxidizes HC and CO, it also breaks NOx down into ordinary nitrogen and oxygen). You can get 3 way cats with the air tube as well (3 way + air).
