how do I get more horsepower??

What is the best way to get more horsepower out of my 305 in my 87 firebird formula?? I'm getting a huge air cleaner and having dual exhaust installed. Is it worth it to put headers on, or is that just a waste of money??

A good way to get more horsepower is to open your wallet Headers is a good way to start. If you're getting an air cleaner I would guess you have a 350 TBI car. You should get a good catback exhaust system to go with the headers, then maybe a different cam, intake and throtle body. I heard the ones off the 454 trucks are bigger and can flow a lot more air. Try to post this in the TBI board.

TES headers, Flowmaster catback, MSD ignition, #24 SVO injectors, 1LE aluminum driveshaft.

Truth be told i have had many cars alot with headders and i have never noticed any difference in power or economy like the manufacurer says. i paid 800$ for custom headders for my departed 67RS and my Quarter mile times stayed the same. I would try a power chip if you have tbi that will improve performance compared to what headders are supposed to do.

The only "cat" i have uses the litter box

Any stock 305 is going to wake up nicely with anything other then the stock headers! Headers, intake manifold (TPI?), 1.6 roller rockers, and a higher stall (2800-3000) converter are about the best mods that cost under $500ea that work well on a 305 that can be transfered to a 350. Heads are a waste on a 305, at that point just go with a 350+ shortblock too IMO.

Spray or supercharger are good ways to make power too.
