AC only turns on when the car is cold, anyone know why?
My 92 RS used to have perfect AC which I never used because I liked the windows rolled down on the highway. Then one day I was driving through Miami and it was hot as ***** outside so I flipped the AC on to cool down. It just blew hot air at me. I took it to a hole-in-the-wall shop to see how much they would charge me to fix that, and they quoted $300+, so I just left. A couple of months later my friend's dad converted my freon to whatever the new standard is and recharged the thing. It blew ice cold for a while, but then it became nice and warm again. If it's morning and I just start the car, the AC will blow cold until I turn it off. If I turn it off, it does not kick in until the car sits for 4 or 5 hours. Also, if I accidentally turn it off while driving, turn it back on, press the clutch and rev the engine to 4500 a couple times, it will usually turn on.
Not really a major issue because 95% of the time I drive on the highway, but still I'd like to know what's going on. Ideas anyone?
Thanks in advance ...
