help me pass inspection in mass

I'm gettin my camaro on the road next week...it's an 88 with the stock LO3. I put an open element filter, headers and a high flow cat on it(both don't have AIR fittings). I also disconected the AIR pump. I live in MA so I have to get the dyno-emitions test. But theres no visual under the hood, just the standard safety. Oh ya I also put a new cap, rotor, and 8.8 accel wires on it. So do you guys think that it should pass emitions? Aslo what would happen if I told them it wasn't the stock LO3...but an LO5 (350 TBI truck motor) instead from an 88 truck. Would they test it for the LO5 levels?

Well, I can tell you what I did to make mine pass...
All I did was retard the timing a few degrees and it passed with flying colors.
Do NOT tell them that you have replaced the engine with a 350, at least in my state, that is a big NO-NO.
Mine; unfortunately, has the stock exhaust, so my AIR was intact. Make sure you have changed the oil, and make sure she is in good running tune. Cap, rotor, wires, plugs, PCV, etc...
Get the car good and hot before you take it to test.
Let us know how you do.

Umm...sorry, I just noticed something about your post. You said that you removed your air pump? I believe the air pump feeds fresh air back into your cat, to help with unburned fuel vapors. I would at least put it back on, and maybe have it just blow directly into the cat, might help.
I did that on my old 83 Firebird S/E that I swapped to a 355, but I never got a chance to test it. When I got to the test lane, the machine broke down, so they gave me a waiver. Two years later, I had gotten rid of the car

Get the car good and hot. If you're really worried about it go buy a bottle of RXP, pour it in, drive for 30 minutes, then go test.

There is a visual in MA. Most places don't bother as the have lost all sorts of money on this crappy system and won't scare away even more business. I've had places give me crap about the open element in my '79 vette. If the pump is disconnected, remove it. The less you tell them the better. BUT...

MA has been having serious problems with this system and have had brand new cars fail the dyno test. You could run perfect and the test will fail you. Rumor has it that they are revisiting the idea this summer as the test has been found to be flawed and new software has had to be written a number of times since inception.

In this state it's the luck of the draw. I've gone into places that tried to fail me for things not even listed in either test. I've gone into other stations and been passed running like absolute crap.

BTW, why did you get rid of the AIR?

Also, if you try here you may find a whole slew of advice as well as additives that would help you pass.

Im in Worcester county. When I bought the headers and the cat I didn't care if they had AIR connections or not cause they were cheap. And i didn't remove the pump yet, just the hoses. And ya i know itll seize up and I know about the diff belt to put on and re-route it. Ya I guess the place I usually go to just doesnt care about the visual, lol the dude looks like Axel Rose. There was this one time I went to the local "Easy Mart/service station", and the guy was a complete ****, tried failing me for havin a cone filter on my mustang. "I do not make the rules my friend"
