Jumping the starter ????

HI Guys,

My starter was giving me probs the past 2 weeks and this past friday night died for good. My dad came to keep me company and well while getting tools from the trunk he tried an old trick my taking 2 screw drivers and trying to jump the starter. The car made some noise and then that was it. he killed the starter motor now.

I bought a new one, installed it, the car started fine, but when I rev up the engine from the throttle body, it stalls. This happened about 4X. Now when I try to start it nothing......starter doesn't engage, no clicking no nothing. I was wondering, by shorting out the starter yesterdsay, could he or I have screwed up anything else.
This behavior resembles my old VAT problem...but that was changed, and my security light does not come on.

Thanks everyone.

Cruise,

Recheck the power cables at the starter and the battery.
