You'll get *VERY* little performance and probably no effect on drivability.

I agree, the difference will not be noticeable. I'm sure it helps a little bit, but not enough for sop. I took mine off to get rid of the stupid air hoses. Every time I had to access the passenger side header they were in the way. Much better now. Still pass the sniffer at e-check too!

Hey, for you guys that have taken the pump out and or disconnected it, what did you do with that little thing that holds the solenoids? More importantly, what did you do with them? I was thinking of doing this too, although, probably just take the belt of the pump, cause I don't think I will pass emissions without all that stuff, unless anyone knows otherwise? Help please, thanks.

KW87GTA,

Just remove that little black box and hide the wires. I asked the same question on this forum earlier and nobody responded with any problems. No ses light, no driveability problems. You would be surprised about passing the sniffer without the airpump. If you pass it now, I'm willing to bet you will pass it after removal. Take off the pump and all the hoses and clear up the engine bay. It's not that hard to put back on if you fail e-check, but I doubt the pump would be the cause of you failing. My GTA passes on fast pass, not even remotely close to failing. Stock converters/no smog pump. If you have a visual check however, it could cause some problems.........

hmm, GTAMAN63, I Know that guy!

Remvoing the smog pump is More of a Clutter issue than anything else, But wont cause any problems.

keep in mind the pumps like to seize up if they arent used, So if you take the belt off, Dont count on it working later.

Thats right the air pump seizes up almost instantly if you just diconect the belt so I pulled out the whole system. Funny how the more stuff I remove the better the TA goes. Also one less belt to drive and I noticed on a ***** out two way trip of 1400kms that I used to make every second weekend that I saved about a quarter of a tank of gas!
