Im curious about this also. The LS1 is really a 346 CI right? So why is it marked as a 5.7? Rounding off? or is it really a 5.6 or something.

The same reason the 302 is a five-point-oh. Marketing.

If you use that ^ you would find this.

Granted, way at the bottom of my search, but there nonetheless.

I think a LS1 is 349 CI.

Its easier to figure the size than using the search button.

Its just a ratio.

A 305 is 5.0

350 388
---- = ---
5.7 x

x 5.7
--- = ---
388 350

so

x = 5.7(388)/350 Liters

That will give you a close enuf value.

A 302 is a 5 liter because it is rounded off. not because of marketing.

One litre equals about 60 cubic inches.

Don't any of you guys use the effin' lins people put in their posts?

Anyway... from the link in my previous post up there in the nose-bleed section:

The .7854 is just Pi*.25

Or, the volume of one cylinder is found with "pi 'r' squared" multiplied by the stroke. For a 350 that is (2^2 * 3.1419)*3.48 Then multiply by the number of cylinders.

therefore......2*2*3.1419*3.48*8

zzzzzz.......

ci X 16.38 = cc's

(Ex. 350 x 16.38 = 5733cc)

Oh yea... 61ci is 1L... so divide 388 by 61 to get L.

(Ex. 427 / 61 = 7L)
