Compression check with SLP headers

Or any headers for that matter!

The service manual states that a compression check should be performed with the engine warm. That's a little vague to me so my question is...

Warmed up to operating temp or warm to the touch?

If it's the former, how the "F" do you do it without third degree burns in the shape of headers all over you arms!?!

Thanks.

Just warm it up enough that you know the engine is running "clean" before you shut it down. No missing or hesitation like you can sometimes get on a cold motor that isn't tuned exactly right.

I usually run mine around the block a few times, bring it in, shut it off and let it cool for about 15-30 minutes before I do the compression test. I don't like 3rd degree burns either.

Remember to disconnect your ignition and block the throttle wide open when performing the compression test.
