Turn signal problem
Turn signal problem
Recently my turn signals have started acting up. When I activate the turn signal, it seems to function normall. It goes on, then of... but when it goes off, it kinda hangs on and flickers for a second or two before dying out. Then it does it agian and again... sometimes it will just keep flickering and never go out. This is a real PITA. I need this fixed ASAP so I don't get pulled over and ticketed for "failing to signal" or some crap. What could cause this>

Maybe a bad flasher?
It's under your dash on the right side in a little 'flip-down convience panel' which isn't really all that conveinient as you need to take off alot of screws to get it down. Turn on the blinker and make it make noise, and poke your hand around under there until you feel it, then pull it out and replace it with a new one.
It looks like a little silver or blue cylinder about the diamater of a quarter, and about an inch tall. There will be more than one down there that look like that. There is a horn relay that looks similar and your hazard flasher so make sure you know which one is ticking/vibrating.

10-4 on that! whenever your light's don't blink right or stick, you either have a bad flasher or a burned out bulb. I've even seen single contact bulbs shoved into dual contact sockets! even a loose turn signal lever can create problems, it sometimes means the T/S assembly is wearing out in the column. But, replace the flasher first! It'll probably fix your situation.

Yup, I agree, that's almost always cause by a dead flasher.
The flasher you need to replace is NOT the one mounted on the fusebox; the one for turn signals is on the "convenience center", which is a little tray sort of thing right behind the ECM diagnostic connector.

Actually, the first thing you probably should check is that all of your bulbs are working. The wiring on these cars is atrocious... it is amazing half the stuff works the way it is supposed to, especially the lights (headlights, taillights, turn signals, foglights). I am sure the designers had reasons for what they did, but heck if I can figure it out.
But back to my original suggestion... even if one bulb is not working correctly, it will screw up the whole system, causing it to operate erratically, similar to what you described.

flasher on older 3rd gens is in the little "convenience center" panel behind the ecm connector, but i found on mine which is a 90 that it is up next to the steering column near adjacent to the fuse panel. just to let ya know if you cant find it rite away. also, make sure you have the rite flasher for your system > 2 bulb flasher for camaro and 2 or 3 for firebirds depending on the f-bird's brakelite setup.
