Oil deflector plate under intake manifold

These sometimes go under the intake manifold to shield the intake from the hot oil. I know some engines have these and some don't. Did the L98 come with these or not?
I am about to put on my intake and don't know whether or not this peice is missing or not. All I have in there is the lifter guides with a really narrow strip of sheet metal.

By the way, this IS a roller block which seems to make a difference in some engines.

Thanks

Yes, they had a pan. Under it is 4 very large hex plugs that lead into the egr passages. Of course if the L98 is off a vette it would be different. I remember having to remove that to get the plugs out because after porting the grinding dust goes in those little egr bleed holes and i was freaking out wondering how to get it all out. I think it's held on by 4 screws with 9mm heads...

I'm not sure what performance difference it makes, but it probably helps some.

My 86 Vette intake manifold has a bolted on oil shield on the underside. It keeps the hot oil from heating the intake air in the manifold.

GM (and probably others) sells one that you can just snap into the lifter valley that does the same thing. It's about $15.00 May need a tiny bit of griding here and there.
