Mass Air Flow Sensor Troubles?

the Mass air flow sensor in my car is broken but car starts and runs fine with check engine light on, new MAF installed and car starts but stalls immedietly everytime. I can even unplug the MAF altogether and it also starts and runs. What is the problem?

Mass Air Floew Sensor

I got it at Auto Zone. It is actually a remanufactored Bosch unit which seems to be a very good sensor, It was $150 plus 80 core charge. It was the cheapest one I found. They previously had one made by wells manufactoring which was a new unit for $60 but it is no longer avabile.

Micro-Tech makes one that is carried at Advance Auto for about $170.00 (no core charge) with a limited lifetime warranty. It goes bad take it back for another one.

I assume you have already bought and installed the new MAF sensor. You need to replace one or both of your relays.

clear the codes too with the ECM connector. IIRC it's a black to orange connector and its near the battery. just unplug with car off and plug back.
