power locks..how much do they weigh

I was wondering if it was worth removing the power locks from my car? How much do they weigh?

I removed my power option doors. Windows, locks and mirrors. I installed a set of manual doors and also cut out the crash bar from the inside.

Total savings was 35 pounds per door.

The power lock actuators weigh a few ounces each. You'll probably leave more skin in there removing them than the weight you'd save.

To save even more weight than removing the power locks, vacuum the car out.

We are talking about the door LOCKS, not power windows or hatch mechanism, right? Unless there is something radically different between 'birds & 'maros, there is NO WAY power locks weigh 3.1 lbs each. Or together for that matter.

I had to take the power lock out of my smashed '82 passenger door and put it into the '86 donor car door. That lock actuator is tiny. Add the rod, pop rivet, wiring, switch, etc., you're still talking around a pound MAX.

Power windows, I'd believe the multiple pounds stuff. Same for power hatch. But, power door LOCKS? I still say, no way 3.1 lbs.

Not to flame, Stephen, but taking the crash bar out of the door is a bad idea for a street-driven car. I've seen to many T-bones to sanction that.
